Kokum butter is an edible fat derived from the seeds of the kokum tree, native to India. Like shea and cocoa butters, kokum is solid at room temperature but melts on contact with skin, making it a great delivery system for other carrier and essential oils as well as promoting absorption and hydration. Unlike shea and cocoa however, kokum is lighter, leaving no greasy or sticky residue.

Kokum butter is an ideal natural alternative to more well-known and frequently used butters like shea and cocoa, especially because it is noncomedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores, has no scent, is structurally stable, and has a relatively long shelf life. Ideal for dry skin.
